After many years working in the financial sector in a sales role I decided enough was enough! Fed up with sales targets and working late evenings and weekends, I decided I needed to look for a new career. I always had strong administration skills and enjoyed meeting people so, with this in mind, I did some research on the internet and I noticed that there were quite a number of vacancies in the medial sector whether working in a GP Practice or in one of the many hospitals in Dublin.
I knew I would have to have some sort of medical experience in order to apply for current vacancies so I searched on the internet for a training course and Pitman Training came up straight away. I located my nearest office in Swords and called them straight away, spoke with Roy and we arranged to meet up the following day. We discussed the Pitman Training Medical Secretary Diploma and he gave me a demo - I knew this was the right course for me. I signed up immediately and started my Diploma course the very next day.
It was great to have the freedom of working at my own pace and also having the support of the team in Swords. I had hoped to complete the course in a couple of months but I fell pregnant. That was not a problem and whilst on maternity leave I continued with my Diploma and soon completed it. I went for my first interview for a Medical Secretary position in Dublin and they offered me the job. I was thrilled and I couldn't have done it without Pitman Training! They gave me the confidence to change my career path and finally I am in a job that I love. I would recommend anyone who is in a rut like I was to take the first step and give Pitman Training a call. It really was the best investment that I ever made.
