FETAC Awards
On 6th November 2012, the Minister for Education and Skills announced the formal establishment of Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI). The newly established QQI incorporates and replaces the functions of:
NQAI – National Qualifications Authority of Ireland
FETAC – Further Education and Training Awards Council
HETAC – Higher Education and Training Awards Council
IUQB – Irish Universities Quality Board
In 2007 we at Pitman Training were awarded FETAC accreditation have been offering FETAC Awards since that time. There will be further announcements over the next year, but all students with FETAC Awards are completely assured that their awards will continue to be recognised. During this period of transition, Pitman Training will continue to offer FETAC Awards and when notified, will then update our Quality Assurance and Examination processes in line with the guidance received from QQI.
QQI was incorporated by the Irish Government under the terms of the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act of 2012. Dr Padraig Walsh, the Chief Executive of QQI has stated:
“QQI is committed to the maintenance and further development of the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) and to assuring and supporting improvement in providers’ quality assurance systems. Over the next year, we will continue the integration and further development of QQI’s qualifications and quality assurance services. It is also important to stress that the qualifications formerly awarded by FETAC and HETAC will continue to be recognised.”
